A Professional Installation in a Masonry Fireplace
A Professional Installation in a Masonry Fireplace
Masonry cavity and chimney ready for the installation of the firebox floor and walls. Fresh air ducting has to be correctly positioned.
The Firebrick walls and floor are layed in a running bond pattern to the correct elevations. Brick size is 8 3/4" x 1 1/4" x 2 1/2".
Angle iron is placed on the backup masonry at the first elevation. The Damper is placed higher up ( 6"- 12" ) to the rear of the opening on the second elevation.
A row of firebrick tiles spans the distance between the top face of the opening and the front base of the damper. The angle iron supports the masonry mass above the firebox opening.
Brick and block is packed into the cavity until the top of the damper is reached. The area behind the damper will serve as the smoke shelf.
When the Log Set arrives it will be attached to the gas line protruding into the firebox. The fireplace surround will then be completed.
